Eligibility Criteria
To be considered under the Refugee Background Admission Scheme, you must:
- Complete the online general Application for Admission into LLB Part II via SSO by 1st December 2026;
- Meet the LLB Part II Eligibility Criteria.
- Be from a refugee background (either you or your parents/primary guardian(s) have been granted refuge in New Zealand);
- Submit this form with your supporting documentation and evidence of refugee status by 2 October 2026.
Documentation Requirements
If you are applying under the Refugee category for UTAS, you must provide formal documentation confirming your refugee background.
Please submit the following:
- A formal document confirming that you or your parent/legal guardian have been granted refugee status in Aotearoa New Zealand. This may include a letter from Immigration New Zealand or an official residence visa with refugee status noted.
- If any name changes have occurred for you or your parent/legal guardian, provide official documentation confirming the change of name (e.g. deed poll, statutory declaration, or birth certificate).
- If the refugee status applies to your parent or guardian:
o Submit proof of their refugee status as above, and
o Provide a legal document confirming your relationship to them (e.g. birth certificate or guardianship papers), signed by a Justice of the Peace or solicitor.
